Are Gods thoughts still higher than ours?

What is the "mind of Christ?"

Are God’s thoughts higher than ours?

It seems striking to me the number of times people blame shift their own responsibility to think clearly, listen closely and obey fully leaving the fault with the mysteriousness of God. I see folks with lives near out of control relationally, financially, morally and spiritually. When confronted with the unpleasant circumstances and consequences of their choices, they somehow want to point to the nature of God being so “un understandable”, so mysterious, so confusing, we humans can’t be held accountable for the results in our lives.

While I agree and firmly believe that the Almighty has an ability to do what we cannot and a perspective that seems to us unwise (because of our limited perceptions) I do not believe the ill-fated circumstances of fools are the work and wish of a loving Father. I also do not believe He has abandoned us to our own devices to fail or succeed based on our own limited knowledge and wisdom.

I believe the printed Word of God as it has been passed down to us, interpreted, deciphered, translated and explained still makes clear one huge advantage toward peace and success for those who call on and claim the name of Jesus as Messiah. When Jesus walked the Earth, He alone embodied the very nature and spirit of the Godhead of the universe. Jesus fully possessed and WAS the manifestation of The Holy Spirit. Jesus knew God and was known by God in a way that no other human had ever experienced. Adam would have been the closest, daily communing in the garden with his creator. Even the great prophets like Isaiah, Enoch, Elijah and Elisha who intimately knew God, did not embody The Holy Spirit.

When Isaiah penned the following words, he expressed the understanding “God will do what God will do and sometimes, I just don’t get it.” (Loren paraphrase.) But that is no longer an accessible excuse for walking and teaching and serving in a way that does not express the fullness of God.

My ways higher than your ways (Before the incarnation)

6Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. 7Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. 8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.  9“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Yes, God still asks His servants to do things which from our limited perception make no sense; which seem illogical. These things are no longer beyond our ability to understand, just our current understanding. I do not believe it was ever God’s plan to “leave us in the dark” and carry about His secret missions without us. Although I do wonder if (in all honor and respect) He does enjoy some great pleasure at our utter surprise and gratitude when HIS PLAN comes together for which we had no clue.

We have been given a gift of immeasurable worth. As Christ followers after the resurrection, we have been offered and encouraged to accept the indwelling of The Holy Spirit. We have been given the “mind of Christ” and we need no longer to live without a clue as to what God is up to. I challenge you to read, study and meditate on the following passage. Consider the pricelessness of the invitation to SEEK GOD in all wisdom.

God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit (After the resurrection)

6We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”b — the things God has prepared for those who love him—10these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.c 14The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”d But we have the mind of Christ.

Relish the love and mercy demonstrated when He says, “So that you might understand all mysteries, even the deep things of God.” Bask in this understanding, your loving Father does not wish to keep secrets from you, rather He DESIRES to whisper them to you personally. God is only mysterious like a puppet master behind the current watching our lives fall apart IF WE DO NOT SEEK TO UNDERSTAND.

Have a blessed day.
